Shurig Cottage is designed for people who want to make the most of Arran outdoors, then come back somewhere warm, comfortable and relaxing afterwards. Whether you’ve spent the day walking Goatfell, playing golf, cycling quiet island roads or exploring beaches and forests with the kids, the cottage gives you space to properly switch off and recharge.

Sleeping up to six guests, Shurig Cottage is slightly smaller than Ashdale but still offers plenty of space for families and groups to spread out comfortably. With three spacious bedrooms, a large open-plan living and dining area and a well-equipped kitchen, it’s ideal for active families, couples travelling together and groups of friends looking for a high-quality self catering stay on Arran.

Arrivals and Departures

Arrival is anytime from 4pm and checkout is 10am.

Open-Plan Living and Dining Space

The open-plan living and dining area is designed for relaxed family time after a day outdoors. Comfortable sofas and armchairs sit around a large coffee table, with glass doors looking out towards the garden and surrounding hills. After a long walk, beach day or round of golf, it’s the sort of space everyone naturally gathers in.

There’s a large smart TV, fast wifi throughout and plenty of room if anyone needs to catch up on work between adventures. The dining area comfortably seats six for relaxed breakfasts before heading out or long dinners afterwards.

Kitchen

The spacious fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to make self catering easy, whether you’re cooking a quick breakfast before an early hill start or a proper family meal in the evening. You’ll find a double oven, 4-ring hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine, along with all the everyday essentials including dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels and kitchen basics.

 

Bedrooms

Shurig Cottage sleeps up to six guests across one king bedroom and two twin rooms. All three bedrooms are bright, spacious and look out towards the garden and surrounding hills, giving the cottage a calm and peaceful feel throughout.

High-quality bed linen and towels are included, and a cot can be provided if needed for younger children.

 

Bathrooms

Downstairs there’s a convenient WC and shower room, while upstairs you’ll find a spacious family bathroom with bath and shower. Arran Aromatics hand soap is provided in each bathroom for a small touch of island luxury.

 

Outdoor Space, Sauna and Cold Plunge Pool

Glass doors open onto a decked patio with outdoor seating, perfect for morning coffee or an evening drink after a day exploring Arran. The garden has a barbecue and picnic table for outdoor dining, and there’s always a good chance of spotting local red squirrels nearby. In spring, the neighbouring sheep and lambs are usually a big hit with younger guests.

Guests also have access to two acres of private woodland, along with a natural stream, waterfall and cold plunge pool. After a hill walk, sea swim or long day outdoors, the sauna and plunge pool combination is one of the best ways to recover before doing it all again the next day.

For walkers, golfers and cyclists, the drying room makes a huge difference too, giving you somewhere practical for wet boots, waterproofs and outdoor kit after a day in the Scottish weather.

 

Games Room

The games room is brilliant for both kids and adults, especially after dinner or on wetter Arran days. There’s a pool table, table tennis, table football and giant Connect 4, making it an easy place for family competitions, rainy afternoons or relaxed evenings with friends.
